Fishing Calallisa Creek
We kayaked Callalisa Creek (putting in under the South Causeway at the little park there) and came away empty handed… the water was too cold, i guess. but the best kayak run in the area for birding. we threw the yaks on the truck and tooled over to the Visitors Center at Canaveral to see if our luck would turn… no luck. Fished the area around Moeller camp (28.923877, -80.823680) (north of Raggety)—still no luck.
BUT:
I saw some guys freelining shrimp right along the dock at the visitors center (they waded out since fishing from the dock is a no-no)—they caught their limits of trout. I tried the same from the ‘yak with Gulp and frozen shrimp, but the trout would have none of it…
so, if you’re trying for trout, i’d recommend some live shrimp.
